  I was a loyal customer and used to love shopping here, but it seems to be going downhill fast. This is puzzling since a Walmart Neighborhood Market opened across the street, and I now shop there most of the time. The management of this Publix doesn't seem to have enough employees (or just doesn't care) to have multiple checkout lanes open...it's usually the "ten items" lane and one other, with or without baggers. Every now and then someone wanders out of the office to help bag or open a new register, but one has to wonder what these people are doing in there and why they're not concerned with assisting out front. Publix NEVER used to treat customers this way and, to be truthful, this is the only Publix in the North Port/Venice area that seems to be managed this poorly. I have now become a Walmart Neighborhood Market shopper, having been driven away from this Publix by their apparent lack of interest in assisting their customers as quickly and efficiently as possible.
